The Old Cranleighan Sports Club, which was opened in 1928, is home to the is home to the Old Cranleighan Rugby Football Club (OCRFC), Old Cranleighan Hockey Club (OCHC) and Old Cranleighan Football Club (OCFC) as well as the Elmbridge Eagles Rugby LeagueClub. OCRFC has 100 adult members playing across three sides and a very successful Mini and Youth offering which has about 850 children, drawn largely from the local community, on its register. Although mainly active over the winter months, OCRFC also hosts Mini and Youth tournaments at other times during the year.
OCHC has 300 adult members playing for 10 men’s and 7 ladies’ teams, as well as mixed sides and a Back2Hockey initiative. A thriving junior section sees over 550 juniors filling 17 training slots a week. There is also a strong offering over the summer months in the way of camps and summer leagues.
The standard of the sport played at the OC Sports Club is at a near all-time high. The OCHC men’s 1XI plays in the National Hockey League, Division 1 South, and the ladies’ 1XI, having been promoted in each of the last three seasons, now plays in the London Premier League.
Through their strong junior sections, both the OCRFC and the OCHC wish to continue to inspire the next generation to play sports at the OC Sports Club. As matters stand, however, the current site cannot accommodate the needs of those clubs, with OCHC in particular having to source alternative slots at two other pitches. In order to protect the OCRFC and the OCHC, and to facilitate the launch of the Old Cranleigh Football Club (OCFC) and thereby cement the future of senior, as well as junior, football on site, there is a need to reorganise the playing facilities on the ground.
